Nazare, on the coast of Portugal is known for it’s humongous waves. So it is no wonder why professional surfers from all over the world come to see if they can deal with what are described as ‘the biggest waves in the world’.

Tom Lowe from Cornwall is no stranger to a closeout, in fact no surfer had more closeouts in 2017 than him!

It doesn’t seem he will changing this in 2018 either after he was on the back end of a savage steam-rolling in Nazare that saw him end up with six stitches in his head after his board hit him.

SoccetBall is the brand new sport that is taking the world by storm. 

This new sport, SoccetBall, is a combination of basketball and football/soccer. Invented in times of personal stuggle Rob Brannon took life and made the best of it.

The Brannon’s and their  four children moved into a ‘mud-brick, tin-roof house’ in Africa as Rob world as a linguist. What they didn’t know was that this would change their lives. Rob had to battle through some rowdy kids every day to get to work, kids he didnt much have anything to do with. It wasn’t until his wife grew fond of them as a result of a God given message. Rob softened to them too that they became almost family. Rob began to teach them, showing them how they could become ‘honourable’.

Everyday these rowdy boys and Rob would play soccer/football and or basketball and began to bond and care for these children. Brannon says these boys became ‘very, very precious to me and my family’. In the small village of Laï, in Chad, the Brannon family had grown a few extra members.

Usually this is where the story gets tragic, and it is. Due to the constant strain on his shoulders Rob developed Tendonitis. This is a joint related problem and meant Rob could no longer play with his friends. Not in the way they were used to.

Rob decided he couldn’t let the boys down each day and continued to play, but without his arms. He used his head, chest, knees and feet to play. This is when the idea struck. Rob made a make shift goal, a mix between the basketball hoop and the football/soccer goal. And thus, Soccetball was born.

The fun was back on for a while, until Rob had to move back to america, leaving his African family behind. But he had their legacy as the first SoccetBall players with him. He introduced the sport to youth groups and it grew and grew and now is awaiting it’s first World Cup being held in Paris soon. Rob and his extended family are detailed on his website for the genius sport.

Beats by Dre ‘Above The Noise’ chronicles Nigeria’s history-making female bobsled team

In 2016 Seun Adigun, 31, created a GoFundMe page in the hopes of financing an unusual Olympic dream to start a women’s bobsled team. Nigeria in the west of Africa has a sub-Saharan climate meaning tropical temperatures across the country and no snow. The team will make history and become the first from Africa to compete in the sport at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Adigun joined by teammates Akuoma Omeoga, 25, and Ngozi Onwumere, 26, live and train in Houston, Texas in the U.S. They visited Nigeria last spring to promote their adopted sport. They received a passionate welcome and even needed a security escort as they were mobbed by crowds of fans.

With the GoFundMe campaign reaching its target the team has since picked up some major sponsorship from Under Armour, Visa and a Beats by Dr. Dre spot.

In the short film by Beats it shows how the athletes have been training hard in preparation for the Olympics. Despite having more than a few comparisons with the movie Cool Runnings which told the story of the Jamaican bobsleigh teams struggle to compete at the 1988 Olympics, it’s clear from this video that these inspiring and history making women aren’t taking this lightly.

It’s unlikely that the team will win any medals at PyeongChang but by qualifying it’s already a huge achievement for the athletes, the country and Africa as a nation. On competing at the Olympics Adigun said, “I can’t wait to get to that stage and give people every ounce of our passion.”

The official Adidas Skateboarding YouTube has released their latest video starring Miles Silvas. The one take 5-minute clip follows Silvas skateboarding around LA’s Koreatown.

The sound of the skateboard going across the different tarmac, hitting the ground after jumps and tricks are all perfectly in synch with the Jazz music playing in the background to this. Furthermore, all the flips and Miles Silvas’ movements are choreographed as precisely as an intricate dance routine. This awesome sound mixes and design was put together by Matt Miller. Moreover, the music featured is by The Latin Jazz Quintet and Eric Dolphy playing “First Bass Line” Caribé.

Coinciding with the release of One Stop is Adidas’ new collection, featuring the City Cup Shoe. Silvas can be seen in the video sporting the shoes, BB Solid tee and Workshop pants. Not to mention, late last year Thrasher magazine said, “Miles is on another level, and he’s only just begun”. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Adidas has him heading up their new skateboarding range. Additionally, we cannot wait to see what is coming next from both Miles and Adidas.

Surfing is a difficult sport to master let alone when you are riding some of the biggest waves in Europe.

Nazaré in Portugal is one of the most popular seaside resorts in the silver coast and is most loved by daring surfers who are willing to risk it all for some of the best adrenaline rushes they will ever experience.

With January being a great month, condition wise, to catch some of the biggest waves, many big wave surfers have been visiting Nazaré recently to push themselves to the limits.

Some of the best big wave surfers out there including Benjamin Sanchis, Hugo Vau and Sebastian Steudtner have ridden some of the most impressive waves in Nazaré.

The water reaches such astonishing heights due to the underwater Nazaré Canyon and its interference between incoming swell waves.

Utopian, nocturnal surfing at its finest and idyllic.

French director, Hugo Manhes has made his mark at famous surf spot, Pointe de la Torche, Brittany.

In the dead of winter at 2.30 am, Manhes sets up his camera, along with local surfers; Ian Fontaine and Gaspard Larsonneur and they take to the waves.

The short itself is absolutely breathtaking, with the waves lit up by 120,000 watt neon lights, the waves are awash in colour under a black, European sky, making the waves purple and yellow. Here, the title La Torche very poignant.

The filmmaker explains:

“The idea was to offer up an experience that went beyond surfing. We projected colored lights onto the ocean to give it an almost supernatural appearance”

The six-minute film succeeds in his goals and creates a supernatural vibe in the nocturnal sport. The video also has idyllic landscapes of waves crashing into clifftops that you would only find on desktop landscapes.

A video of a free-skier taking on a multitude of terrains has gone viral and its obvious why!

The video which is a publicity stunt for Audi and Faction Skis, shows the legendary skier Candide Thovex exploring all four corners of the world by what is most likely his favourite form of transport.

The 4 and a half minute clip has breathtaking views from all over the planet and the only sound affect is that of the skis drifting along each surface, no music is even needed as the natural sound of the skis is so mesmerizing.

And instead of skiing along the expected terrain of thick snow, what makes this video so impressive is the number of unexpected places that can be ventured on via skis.

Candide seamlessly glides along the sea, sand, stairs, the Great Wall of China and even takes on the side of a volcano (luckily it didn’t take this moment to erupt- can you imagine!)

Famous Skateboarder returns with a new video called ‘Not Alone’.

Corey Duffel is a profesional skateboarder who started skating at just age ten. Not lossing any of his awe-inspiring passion this dude went pro at eighteen and hasn’t stopped skating or thinking about skating since.

Duffel -or Duffman as he is also known – has starred in multiple films, including: ‘Cataclysmic Abyss’, ‘Foundation European Tour’, and ‘That’s Life’. And now He’s back in a youtube video living up to his reputation.

The video showcases the classic skating hero back in action and has sent fans wild. Most of them are not only happy to see more skating but also to see Duffman recovered from some bad years he has faced following injuries threatening his career.

Whilst traumatic the past seems it is, by the sheer awesome-ness of the video, clear that the Duffman is back.

Australian surfing team Rusty have released their highlight reel of 2017.

Second to appear is 21-year-old Noah Schweizer, who’s favourite time of year to surf is Hurricane season.

“It’s always a risk when going into a hurricane,” he writes, “You could always play it safe and stay away or you can chase it and hopefully stay out of harm’s way and score up the coast.

This year I tried to be there for as many storms as I could,”

In an interview with Rusty, Noah said, “Right now all I want to do is throw everything I have into my surfing and putting out videos that show people what I’ve got.”

“Good surfing to me is someone with good form and style, who surfs fast and never holds back on any section that comes their way. Style plus aggression is where it’s at, and I hope that’s what people see in my surfing.”

“My eventual goal is to make the World Tour, but for now I want to build up experience and get to a point where I’m ready for it. If I can travel a bunch along the way, and go to places where surfers normally don’t, well that would be cool too.”

Rusty are setting their sights high. But with surfers like Noah on team, even if a natural disaster strikes, they’ll probably just ride the wave.

Have you tried surfing? It’s one of those things that if you get right, you looking seriously cool, but if you don’t (which will happen more times than not), then you look ridiculous. So for Mason Ho, not only is it cool he can surf, but he can do it on shallow waters, surrounded by rocks. Sounds crazy right?

Mason Ho isn’t a rock collector or some form of geologist, apparently he just really likes rocks. This is something that has to be seen, and Mason delivers on this as he records many of his adventures out at sea, which also gives people an insight into how dangerous what he does actually is. One of his more famous videos features him and co-daredevil Cheeseburger tackle their way through a rock maze.

As if surfing wasn’t hard enough Brazillian bodysurfing madman, Kalani Lattanzi, is renown in the surfing world for tackling the world’s biggest waves with just a pair of swim fins.

At just 23 years old, Kalani Lattanzi has taken the ancient sport of bodysurfing into the 21^st Century, applying it to some of the biggest and heaviest waves on the planet. 

Lattanzi has surfed his way through the ‘big-wave world’ from Hawaii, to Brazil and is currently intending to tackle the waves in Nazaré, Portugal.

After failing to grab a medal in the Sochi Winter Olympics Games in 2014, the snowboarder known as ‘Iron Man’ is determined to achieve his dream this time around. 

The American snowboarder has already won two gold medals in the Olympics, but is out to seek revenge this time around. The Winter Olympics 2018 are being held in South Korea and start on the 8th of February, so keep an eye out for White as he once again tackles the slopes.

Superbowl LII was bittersweet for some and a happy event for others…

Superbowl LII is always a big event for football fans, but this year it was a very special event for the fans of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles won the game against the New England Patriots. With any ending sports season, fans rage all around their favorite teams and bets are overflowing, with many hoping to have some bragging rights.

The Eagles won 41 to 33 and many fans will either have to pay up, or are lucky winners of cash AND in-your-face warranted behavior.

Unfortunately for Bud Light, they are amongst the people who made the bets, and lost it all. This bet all started back in August 2017, when the Eagles’ lineman Lane Johnson promised beer for every Philly resident if the Eagles won the Super Bowl. In response to this promise, Bud Light decided to take on this bet for their own. Bud Light is known to favor the Patriots, so they probably made the bet not imagining it come back to haunt them.

Flash forward to now, and many lucky fans in Philadelphia will get a free drink. Must be 21 years or older of course. Bud Light issued a statement on the matter and it looks like they are as good as their word. Cheers to Philly Philly Day and Drinks to that!

Brave Slack-liners get drone footage of Portugal that is no less than awe-inspiring. 

Maquina Voadora, a youtube channel, recently released an awesome video documenting what use be one of the craziest experiences.

A group of Slack-liners attached their line to a famous cliff in Nazaré, Portugal ready for the big swells. The group apparently set the line up with extreme caution and took every measurement to protect themselves.

The video documents one particular members mind-blowing experience from above, via drone. The video’s name, ‘The Rope”, is appropriate as its the only other thing, bar the crazy person, in shot against the elements.

The footage speaks for itself and can be seen below:

Slack-lining is the act of walking, balancing or fastening yourself to a rope suspended between to points. This particular example is very extreme but great to watch and imagine.

“Definitely one of the gnarliest things, not only that he’s done, but has been done on rails in general”

Chase Webb isn’t your average skateboarder. With a global ranking of 35th in the world, and 1,334,461 views on YouTube it’s no surprise he wanted to push himself to new limits.

Webb was determined to film an insane 50-50 to board-slide on the aptly named ‘mutant rail’  for a video. With the odds against him and after days of attempts, the possibility of success seemed slim.

But, on the final day, with only a hour of sunlight left, he finally masters it. 

Now, personally I don’t know too much about skateboarding, but nevertheless this skill is pretty impressive.  Check it out in the video below:

Finland’s finest Snowboarder

Joona Saikkonen is a snowboarder from Finland who makes videos showing his talents through the snow. When you watch his films, which you can do for free online, you see how much risk he puts into this particular sport. As the Winter Olympics is now underway, what better time to check out this guy’s captivating clips.

When speaking to angrysnowboarder.com, Joona says that he get’s his inspiration from watching other videos that are out there. He goes on to say that having free online videos out there is good because it makes it more accessible. This then allows more people to get the chance to be inspired. He does also go on to say that the film companies shouldn’t have to worry. He thinks that people who really love the sport will still make the effort to buy their films, and if they pay for them they are more liking to remember them more. Having said that he also believes the online videos that you can find on the internet are very good watching, such as ‘Pocket figures.’

Joona who has 1,128 followers on his Instagram account, has many pictures and videos for you to delve into. He recently made a film, Global Warning, with two radical Finnish crews named ‘Labyrinth Crew’ and ‘Woked.’
The video shows stunning locations deep in the snow of Finland, where you can see Jonna shredding through the streets, and snowboarding past spectacular scenery while boarding across steps and railings.

He had to delay filming until March due to an accident from this dangerous sport, but this turned out in his favour as, according to Labyrinth crew, he actually hates filming in cold temperatures. As it’s Finland, with incredible amounts of snow, I’m sure it was still cold out there for him.

The famous Lost Surfboards Crew have been filmed tearing up manmade waves in Northern Spain. The team went to the full-sized Wavegarden facility in Spain to try “the best wave creation systems possible… with ideal and safe conditions”.

Lost is a surfboard crew started by Matt Biolos when he started to shape surfboards to accommodate himself. The boards he was making were ‘user-friendly’, but also ‘high performance’ making them great for different people of different shapes and sizes who wanted to get into surfing.

The latest that the crew have been getting up to is going to Wavegarden in the Basque Country, Spain. Wavegarden is made up of manmade coves and lagoons that pump waves suitable for both experts and beginners. As seen by the video, younger people can too enjoy this safer surfing environment. Their website claims that their technology can pump out up to 1000 waves an hour that mimic the ocean and can be any height or length.

If you’re thinking “I have to try this surfing!”

Wavegarden has three locations, one in Northern Spain, one in Wales and one in Austin, Texas. Therefore, pick your nearest one and get surfing!

Regardless of your knowledge on golf trick shots, this is impressive. This is the kind of video you have to watch multiple times to realise what just happened. I’m not exaggerating when I say this guy is seriously talented (or extremely lucky).

Joshua Kelley shows no strain when performing this cool golf trick shot. He could not possibly make it seem any more effortless. Anyone would think that this shot was a fluke, but he is a professional trick shot artist and golfer so its no wonder that he is good.

It is pretty good isn’t it? The video seems even better because you forget that he has been perfecting these skills for years. However, despite how much practice he has put in, its still better than most of us could ever do.

After watching it a few times you realise just how perfectly timed it all had to be. It must have taken so many attempts to get it just right. If he can still hit the ball after throwing his gold club in the air then imagine how amazing he would be at mini golf! I think it is safe to say that if most of us tried this it would probably (most definitely) end in disaster.
