This Skater Video Has An Unexpected Ending, But Is There More To It?

Featured Image Via

You’ve gotta see this. At first I thought it was just another crazy surprise, but after I watched it a little while, I realized there’s actually a lot more going on here than initially meets the eye. See what I’m talking about below, unless you hate having your MIND BLOWN.

//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js

Look, I’m kind of an expert when it comes to these things. I actually have an English degree, so analyzing texts (and yes, videos are texts, ugh) is basically my thing. So if you even want to BEGIN to understand this video, you’re gonna have to listen to me.

In the first section, we see a skateboarder fly off the overpass and land successfully on the ground. Clearly, this is a metaphor for the proletariat breaking free of the capitalist regime’s preset pathway for living, symbolized here by the “road.” Then, when his friend congratulates him on a job well done, we see the patronizing voice of the bourgeoisie calling after our working-class hero, attempting still to assert its vocal authority over him—but really it’s an attempt at keeping the skaterboi under the illusion of its control.

That’s when the car comes. And boy, does it go out with a bang.

Film Analyst Teddy Ryles, reporting directly to me from his non-profit equestrian sanctuary in Colorado, agrees with my analysis.

“I don’t think that there is any question about this. Is a little bit more coming the next time? Definitely. And you know that I’m what you are, going on in the morning, and I’ll be there to see what and why when it’s over.”

Couldn’t agree more, Teddy.

Besides, I don’t even need literary criticism to point out how obviously fake this video is. A lot of its flaws are just basic common sense. Like, we’ve all had empty cars flung at us before, but these kids seemed way too young for that kind of thing. And if you don’t want to take the detailed analysis, then the only explanation is that there’s something more sinister at play here. How did the car get flung from the overpass? And why was the tow truck so conveniently situated nearby, ready to pick it up?

We may never know, and that’s why you need me here to pick apart the hidden clues.

Check in next time for the real scoop. I’ll be back with more videos and more commentary.

Cristiano Ronaldo Honored With New Bust That Puts The Original Bust To Shame

Last March, football player Cristiano Ronaldo was honored with a bust at the recently renamed Cristiano Ronaldo Airport in Madeira. It looks nothing like him, but thankfully a new one was released recently that actually bears resemblance to the athlete.

After being unveiled, Ronaldo’s bust — which looks like Ronaldo, if he was a character in an Ambien nightmare — immediately gained popularity on the internet. As always, the internet took things a little too far.

Recently a new bust was released, probably as a response to the internet blowing up over the first one. Just so we’re clear on how badly this project needed to be redone, here’s what the two busts look like when compared side by side.

The new bust has received much more positive reviews from the public, than the original, since its release. It took about two weeks to make (so why they waited eight months to have a new one made I will never know) and will be put on display at the the Real Madrid Museum.

Some stories are too priceless to believe. The first time I heard about this story I didn’t believe it until I saw the picture. I then had to take about a day before writing this because I was laughing too hard. Let’s enjoy the old statue one more time before we continue.

Doesn’t that just make your week? The only thing better than the original bust is the string of memes that came with it. Here are some of my favorites:

This may be an overstatement, but if you ask me, this is the greatest piece of misrepresenting art since that painting of Jesus that a church in Spain had restored only to have it end up looking like a monkey.

They should have hired this guy, who turns his kid’s drawings into beautifully detailed anime characters, to redo the bust — and maybe the Jesus painting too.

The ‘On The Pipe’ series is one of the most amazing in terms of sport film franchises.

Showing us the amazing skills and success of those who love the motor cross sport so much they would risk their lives to do it.

X Games gold medalist Colby Raha attempts to jump over a train only 2 months after the attempt by Kyle Katsandris that left him with horrific and life threatening injuries.

Since the incident police have been station by the tracks to stop more people from attempting this fatal jump.

However not even the police could stop Raha.

What an amazing jump and landing!

Not everyone who attempts this jump is so lucky as we saw, it is certainly not for the less skilled or faint hearted.

Ambition Snowskates Drop Jeremy Manson’s Part In Upcoming Video “Solstice”

Put on your brain bucket and look out for death cookies!

Shreddin’ The Gnar, Tearin’ It Up, yard sale. I can only guess what these snowskating colloquialisms mean but if you know your jibs from your stalls and your grinds from your switches then this might be right up your half pipe.

If your familiar with snowskating (a kind of cross between snowboarding and skateboarding which allows the skater to pull off awesome skate tricks on snow) then chances are you’ll have heard of Jeremy Manson.

Image available at https://www.ambitionsnowskates.com/jeremy-manson

The Canadian based company “Ambition Snowskates” founded in 2004 recently announced they will release their seventh feature length project titled “Solstice” in December this year. To get fans excited for some crunchy moves, I think crunchy means cool? They’ve released this clip of pro team member Jeremy Manson tearin’ up some pow. I think that means doing some rather impressive tricks on snow.

I’m sure you agree that Manson’s got some pretty crunchy moves in that clip. I hope he doesn’t faceplant into some yellow snow though.

I wouldn’t hold my breath for a white Christmas this year but if you do fancy giving snowskating a go you could head to any number of indoor snowboard and ski centres across the uk.

Personally I’m content to watch the pros shred the powder. It looks pretty cold out there and I’m much happier in front of a fire whittling spoons. Tell us what you think of Manson’s moves or your powder plans in the comments below.

Here’s another snowy sport article for you to roll around in.

Irish Gangsters Apparently Put Hit Out on Conor McGregor After Bar Brawl

Things just seem to be getting worse for Conor McGregor after his loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Though details are scarce and not exactly verifiable, apparently Conor McGregor has landed in hot water with members of the Dublin mob after a bar room fight. The mixed martial artist and boxer is believed to have gotten drunk and beaten up several Dublin gangsters.

Check out some accounts of the incident below:

COnor McGregor 1

(Images via: Imgur)

From these posts, it seems that the UFC lightweight champ found out one of his old friends was in trouble with the Dublin mob and decided to take matters into his own hands. His actions caused quite a stir, and now the gangsters have put out a hit on McGregor, unless he pays them $900,000.

Of course, we should probably take this story with a grain of salt, or even a whole handful, considering the sources. Mcgregor’s father even told the Irish Mirror that the story is “absolute nonsense,” and that he and his family had nothing to fear. But according to MMA Mania, McGregor himself was a bit more confrontational. After driving away from court for a speeding violation, he shouted “Come and get me,” which presumably was directed toward the Irish mob.

If McGregor can’t kick or punch his way out of this mess, that $900,ooo shouldn’t be a problem, given that he was set to earn $75 million for the Mayweather fight.

Twelve time world champion Dougie Lampkin has completed a lot in his career. He has ridden through the tundra, taken his bike through offices and even climbed a waterfall. Now he’s got his latest fix for adventure by travelling to a disused theme park in Milan. Lampkin, who has been winning championships since he was 9, took to ‘GreenLand’ to show off his moves and try out some new tricks.

VIDEO: The Ultimate Challenge: Corbet’s Couloir On Two Wheels

It takes even the bravest of adrenaline junkies to complete Corbet’s Couloir on skis, but two ultimate dare devils have taken it on on their mountain bikes… and live to tell the tale!

Cam McCaul and Casey Brown are the first people to ever complete the ski run which is situated in the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Wyoming, America on two wheels.

Taking on the challenge in icy conditions would make most expert skiers and snowboarders shiver in their boots but these two brave souls made it look easy. Although it’s probably not at the top of everyone’s bucket list.

As they roll at speed down the slope, over the rocks that break up the snowy surface, it’s obvious that choosing to take on this ski run using any sort of equipment is risky business.

Entrance to the Couloir requires people to drop off a cornice that has a free fall ranging from 10 to 20 feet, it is about 10 foot wide at the entrance and has rock faces to compete with on 3 sides.

Take a look at their heart racing descent:

WATCH: Adidas Snowboarding Crew Take On ‘The Land Of The Rising Sun’

‘The Land of the Rising Sun’ should be called ‘The Land of the Rising Snow’ in this snowboarding vid.

Psycho Yabai showcases the Adidas Snowboarding crew as they travel to Japan for three weeks of snow-covered mayhem.
The video is a must-see for Adidas advocates or fans of the sport in general as you see the crew display their impressive skills.

On a background of urban Japanese aesthetic, the crew on their journey enjoy the bright Japanese culture as seen through the street life (even if it is through alcohol and claw machines.) Brightly lit streets and amazing monuments also take the spotlight for the first few seconds of the video.

Then, the crew take advantage of the radical snow-covered streets of Japan. With stomach turning stunts, flips and twists and comradeship, it’s one of the most aesthetically pleasing videos to watch, even if you are not a fan of the sport.

The film crew are at the front of the action as they film close-ups of the crew gliding against barriers and snow covered walls as easily as breathing. The sounds of the snow and the clashes of the boards against railings and the snow-covered ground clear and stylish. It is almost more intimate as we see members of the crew fail their first attempt only for them to nail it a second time. The detail the video goes into is prominent and we see barriers bend under the snowboard’s weight.

Snowboarding aside, the video also shows more laughs as the crew are seen pushing (or attempting to push) a van through the snow. So even if you are not here for the sport, at least you get a few laughs.

Check it out here:

These Ski Tricks Are So Dangerous That I Was Shaking Violently For The Whole Video

Featured Image Via

I started watching this thinking I’d see the stuff anybody can do after a couple days on the Bunny Hill. What I saw instead shook me down to my fucking core.

Legs of Steel, a group of death-defying skiers and alpine sports professionals, have just dropped this breathtaking first look at their upcoming film, Same Difference. Check out what I’m talking about below:

Yeah, that’s right. You just essentially watched a human being fly off a cliff face then land on their feet no problem. This isn’t just an amazing ski video. It’s an unbelievable affront to Fate wherein these athletes give death the middle finger.

Snow sports have always amazed me. When you grow up in Alabama, the idea that snow even exists is a bit of a shocker.

In school they teach us that snow is a curse from above that leaves the ground ruined and frozen, and that if we ever encounter snow, we’re supposed to say, “There is snow,” and then run as quickly as possible in the other direction. So you can understand how amazing it is that these guys not only stand their ground but effectively humiliate the mountain by cascading down the sides.

Photo Credit: Legs of Steel, Red Bull

I identified numerous tricks in this video I’d like to share with you now.

1. The Big Yowza – In this trick, the skier does a backflip while regretting his choice of mittens.
2. The Bojack Horseman – Here, the skier simply falls off the mountain while blaming his or her mother.
3. The Mister Silly – In every single jump in this video, the skiers are making wacky faces at the camera, but we can’t see them because of the, uh, the altitude.

I hope never to see anything as terrifying as snow, but if I do, I hope that I’ll be lucky enough to spy one of these flippy bois doing their thing, gracefully sliding down the mountain.

But until then, I’ll be waiting for Same Difference.

Snowboard Sensation Film Coming Your Way With Pirate Movie Productions ‘As The Crow Flies’

We all love a good snow-boarding themed, adrenaline-inducing, nail-biting film don’t we? If you’re sat there nodding furiously, then you may just be in luck. Your dream film could be on screens very soon.

Top snowboarding sensations, Elias Elhardt, Gigi Ruff, Kazu Kokubo and Toni Kerkela are planning a breathtakingly cool new idea.  Their journey is happening now. Travelling all over the globe, they’ve been on the hunt for the world’s best snow trail. Considering factors such as: the best snow, the most vicious track and the most beautiful and unusual features.

The best part of it all, is that we can all be apart of the experience! From Italy to Alaska, there’s plenty of stunning places they visited. Providing you with gorgeous views and heart pumping boarding skills.

Pirate movie productions are describing it as potentially a very risky business. Though, where’s the fun without a little gamble here and there. As there is only  two main snowboarders in the film, it was difficult to get a lot of footage. They are typically used to only needing to be filmed for three-five minutes for video parts, so thirty minutes was a huge step up. Luckily though, both Elias and Gigi are very relaxed and experienced guys, willing to take on any challenge that comes their way.

The filming was a huge success. Not only did they manage to capture some stunning clips, the guys described their journey as ‘very special.’ With them getting to visit some magical countries, trying new skills and having memories for life, their time is something they are not going to forget in a hurry. Fingers crossed we will be able to enjoy this phenomena for ourselves.

When Is It OK To Use Drugs In Sport?

0
0
Featured Image Via

Doping in sport is currently a hot topic. New cases are continuously springing up, whilst governing bodies are responding by issuing out harsh punishments. Medals have been stripped from athletes and entire countries have been banned from events, as is the case with Russia in the next Olympics. In many cases, these drugs do put athletes at an unfair advantage. But more recently there have been controversial cases that are less easy to condemn as doping.

Take UK cyclist Chris Froome, who has recently been called out for using salbutamol – a drug found in inhalers. Froome has had asthma since childhood and required an inhaler ever since, but now the UCI are accusing the cyclist of using his inhaler to gain an unfair advantage.

This begs the question – when is it fair game to take drugs and when is it cheating?

Image Via

Obvious cases of foul play

There are some drugs such as steroids that are clearly not ok. There are many sites such as www.aretheyonsteroids.com dedicated to calling people out for using such drugs. Taking these performance enhancers may be acceptable for personal reasons, but when it comes to competition it makes sense to keep these drugs out of mainstream sport. To allow these drugs could make it a competition about who has the best chemist rather than who is naturally the better athlete.

That said, there are some sports in which these drugs have been allowed, although usually this is as a separate category and sport altogether. Weight-lifting, for example, has competitions that are clean and others that are untested. This allows athletes that want to stay clean and athletes that want to take performance enhancers compete – just not together. Is this a division that should be brought into other sports?

Supplements

Are supplements fair game? Most supplements rely on natural minerals and nutrients and so cannot be banned by sports organisations – there are no unnatural drugs being pumped into the body to instantly enhance performance. That said, there are a growing number of supplements on the market from shady retailers that have been found to contain steroids and stimulants.

Willingly taking these supplements should be classed as doping as it involves non-natural ingredients that can instantly affect performance. Sites such as www.usada.org offer more information on this issue and when it’s not deemed acceptable.

Image Via

Treatment medication

Treatment medication is where it becomes much more difficult to draw a line in the sand. Should someone with asthma be allowed to compete if their inhaler is potentially enhancing their performance? Many sporting bodies have a limit on how much an athlete can use their inhaler within a 48 hour period. Many see this as fair, whilst others think that it could be taking away people’s right to medication. The solution to this is still not clear – perhaps such athletes need to be recording each use of their inhaler within this 48 hours so that a valid reason can be supplied for its use? Or perhaps there needs to be stricter monitoring? Nowadays wearable smart tech should be able to tell when these athletes are truly struggling to breathe and when taking an inhaler is a justifiable response. It’s a rather excessive solution, but the only one that truly feels fair.

Diego Maradona Is The Latest Footballer To Have A Horrendous Memorial Statue Made

Legendary footballer, Diego Maradona, honoured with a statue, it’s just a shame it looks more like Susan Boyle.

The curse of bad statues continues with Diego Maradona. Presented with the statue in India Maradona seemed happy. And it’s reminding people of Ronaldo’s notably bad bust from earlier this year.

For more on Football Fails:Click Here.

Professional Argentine footballer Maradona is a household name. Those who know anything about football know this man. Starting his professional career just before his sixteenth birthday he subsequently took the sport by storm. If anyone deserves a statue to commemorate a career chasing a ball it’s him. Shame it looks like a 60 year old woman.

Take a look at this:

Not what you expected? Us neither. Maradona probably had a shock too.

Likened to the bust of Ronaldo, the statue is unacceptable. The bust caused uproar and was re-done in a much better way. Unfortunately, that may be a bit hard, after all it is 12feet tall. A misrepresentation at it’s best.

The statue is circling the internet and consequently opinions are being aired from all corners. Mrs. Brown’s Boy’s twitter retweeted the picture saying it looks more like their protagonist. Other likenesses have been made to Susan Boyle and a young Larry Bird.

Whilst the shock settled in, Maradona remained humble as ever. ‘I am not a god of a footballer,’ he said at the event, ‘But a simple footballer.’ The footballer then continued in the most appropriate celebration, kicking football into the thousand strong crowd.

He may be happy but no one else seems to be. Perhaps he will get a replacement but maybe his humble nature will win out.

Surfers Shake Up The Legendary Swells Of Nazare In First Hours Of 2018

The shores of Praia do Norte are as merciless as ever on the first day of 2018.

“When I was little, everybody always said, ‘Don’t go in the water over there or you will die,'” a local bodyboarder told Surfer magazine.

Lucas Chumbo, Tom Lowe, Justine DuPont, Jamie Mitchell, Nic Von Rupp, Sebastian Studner and Hugo Vau all decided to dice with death within the first hours of the new year.

Driving on the road that leads to Praia do Norte, Nazare, you will pass under a foreboding arch that reads, “Welcome to the Biggest Waves in the World.”

The wipe-out at 1:55 is particularly brutal. Video by magicseaweed.

A world record was set here by Garrett McNamara in 2011, for the largest wave ever surfed. Ever since, people from all corners of the earth have been gathering in this tiny town in the middle of Portugal, hoping to do the same thing.

“A great way to start the year,” Brazilian Lucas Chumbo told Magic Seaweed. “The swell was pretty good, a big day with a couple of bombs. Had the chance to get a really good wave, a 50 foot face. Rafael Tapia whipped me and then I towed him. Looking forward to the next swell.”

Video by Sebastian Steudtner.

“The canyon extended the waves around 13 meters… The first peak was on fire and it was a beautiful nature show, that formed giant waves of irregular contours, typical of this place,” Nazare Waves reports.

It seems that the waves that were once feared by the local Portuguese are helping them become the centre of the surfing world.

Not enough wipe-out videos in your life? Watch this British surfer break his back in 12 places while surfing a monster wave.

Floyd Mayweather’s Shocking Response To The ‘Me Too’ Movement

0

Featured Image Via

If you know anything about Floyd Mayweather, this information may not come off as surprising.

The retired professional boxer, notorious for his undefeated 50-0 record, is your typical macho man when it comes to women issues. Recall the time when he backed up Donald Trump’s disgusting comments about sexually assaulting women.

With that in mind, maybe Floyd Mayweather’s understanding of #MeToo is to be expected.

In an interview with Men’s Health, Mayweather misinterprets the meaning of the Me Too movement while simultaneously centering it back to himself. Here’s what went down:

Men’s Health: We’re asking a lot of men, in light of the #MeToo movement, how men can grow in 2018.

Mayweather: The who?

MH: The #MeToo movement. Women speaking out about sexual assault.

Mayweather: Oh. ’Coz when you say “me too,” my thing was this, when somebody be like, “I got a Rolls Royce,” I be like “me too.” When somebody say they got a private jet, I say, “Me too. I got two. Me too.”

MH: This is a very different…

Mayweather: Well, I didn’t know! I didn’t know. My “Me Too” movement from the beginning was whenever somebody said what they have I’m like, “me too.” Somebody say they got a billion dollars, I say, “I made a billion dollars, me too.”

MH: I know you have a sensitive side. You’ve talked about your sensitive side before.

Mayweather: Of course. I mean, you live and you learn. I think everyone, if you’re in an uncomfortable position, you have to pray about it, you know, talk about it, and I think that, you know, sexual harassment, I don’t think it’s cool at all.

The relevance of his Rolls Royce, private jet, and billions of dollars in this narrative will remain a mystery. I could cast this off as outrageous and insensitive; however, as I said earlier, can we really be surprised?

Props to him for at least thinking that sexual harassment isn’t cool “at all.”

Give me a break.
